Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Every file you select is processed entirely inside your browser using your device's own memory. Nothing is uploaded, stored or shared, so customer documents never leave your computer or phone.

Is there any limit, watermark or sign-up?

No. The tool is free, unlimited and needs no account. Output files carry no watermark of any kind.

Can the hidden text be copied back out?

No. Any page you redact is exported as a flattened image with the boxes burnt in, so the text underneath is not present in the file at all.

Why is the text no longer selectable on those pages?

Because flattening the page is what makes the redaction real. Pages you did not redact keep their original selectable text.
